Week 5

By Twishaa and Laya

Hey Warriors! Time to power up – our weekly blog is back to keep you plugged in to all things robotics! The electrical subteam has been collaborating with members of the CAD team to continue refining the design panel to ensure its proficiency and alignment with the robot’s requirements. The process of modifying the design panel involves multiple rounds of testing, with frequent adjustments made based on the results to enhance its effectiveness and functionality. Alongside their work on the electrical panel, the CAD team has also been improving the overall design to optimize efficiency. The mechanical subteam has been actively working on integrating and improving new mechanisms to the practice bot to test its practicality before implementing them on to the competition robot, Goldfish. So far, they’ve successfully added the intake and shooter mechanisms and plan to continue the testing and refinement processes. The manufacturing subteam has varnished the enclosure and cut out several components for the superstructure, including the roof panels. They’ve also worked on panels for the battery cart and the belly pan. Major progress has been made on the CNC, allowing them to print many necessary parts, such as the spiral piece for the winch mechanism. This week, the programming subteam has tested all the subsystems and the results have indicated that “the functionality of each sub system seems to be good,” (Kevin Pfeffer- Programming Officer).
They’re working on testing more commands and have been working to “tune some PID feed forward controllers”(Kevin Pfeffer- Programming Officer). Once they gain access to the practice bot, they’ll be able to create macros that allow the robot to complete a sequence at the touch of a button. They’ll also need to use it to create new autons for this year and add vision to the Goldfish. Additionally, they have also been building a simulator to test code virtually, reducing dependency on the practice bot. The operations team has finalized the impact award video and is now working on the essay and executive summary. We now have a LinkedIn profile set to expand our non-profit activities and to document our journey. See you next week Warriors!
